As Good As It Gets tells of the trials and tribulations of a compulsive writer, Melvin Udall (Nicholson). Melvin’s gay artist neighbor, Simon (Kinnear) is brutally beaten. Melvin is therefore entrusted with caring for Simon’s dog. On top of this, he also has a difficult relationship with a waitress called Carol (Hunt). What develops is a weekend trip between these three individuals. Together they learn the true meaning of “the sunny side of life”.
