In 28 Days Later, animal activists invade a laboratory with the intention of releasing chimpanzees that are undergoing experimentation. The cages are unlocked, and this creates disastrous results. The activists have now become infected. Twenty eight days later, our protagonist, Jim (Murphy), wakes up from a coma. He finds himself all alone, in an abandoned hospital. Jim begins to seek out anyone else he may be able to find in the now deserted city of London. Jim discovers a church, which had become inhabited by zombie-like humans. They are intent on his demise and he runs for his life. He is rescued by Selena (Harris) and Mark (Huntley). They bring him up to date on the mass carnage and horror when all of London had torn itself apart. This is a tale of survival and ultimately, heroics. Embedded is a nice subtext about mankind’s savage nature.
