Bob Dylan (born Robert Allen Zimmerman) has much of his celebrated work dating from the 1960’s. Songs such as Blowin’ in the Wind and The Times They Are a-Changin’ were to become anthems of the civil rights movements. Since 1994, Dylan has published and exhibited eight books and has sold more than 100 million records. His numerous awards include ten Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. Dylan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 2008 The Pulitzer Prize jury awarded him a special citation for “his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power” In 2012, Dylan received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and in 2016, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature; “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”.
