Casanova (Ledger) is in love with Francesca (Miller). This is even though he is engaged to Victoria (Dormer). She is the love of Giovanni (Cox), who is Francesca’s brother. Francesca is betrothed to Paprizzio (Platt). He thinks Casanova is the feminist writer Guardi, who is really Francessca’s nom de plume. Amidst all these secret identities and misunderstandings, the Catholic Church sends out Pucci (Irons). The Church wants to find them both. This is so that they can be put on trial for heresy.
