In Cowboys & Aliens, a wounded, amnesiac stranger (Craig) rides into a town where a local preacher treats him. Percy (Dano), the son of the powerful farmer Woodrow Dolarhyde (Ford), is a town bully and when he provokes the stranger he is beaten up. The local sheriff John Taggart (Carradine) arrests the stranger and finds he is the wanted Jake Lonergan. The sheriff and his deputies try to arrest Jake, but he subdues the men. However he is hit on his back by the mysterious Ella Swenson (Wilde). Sheriff Taggart is ready to deliver Jake and Percy to a Federal Marshall. Woodrow arrives with his men ready to protect his son. Spacecrafts then attack and abduct several town dwellers. Woodrow organizes a posse to seek out the kidnapped people. Meanwhile, Jake Lonergan has glimpses of his past life and they learn that someone among them may help them.
