Description

In America follows the tragic death of a five year old. He is the son of the Irish couple Johnny Sullivan (Considine), and his wife the aspiring Irish actor, Sarah (Morton). They both with their remaining children illegally emigrate to the US. Their dream is for their father to break into the New York City theatrical scene. Once they arrive in the big city, they move into a flop house and try to make it truly their home. While they struggle to fit in their new country, the family finds new friends. Their reclusive neighbor, Mateo (Hounsou), provides help in the most unexpected ways.
