Insidious begins with Josh (Wilson) and Renai (Byrne) Lambert and their two sons, Dalton (Simpkins) and Foster (Astor) settling into their new home. They experience horror when Dalton falls off a ladder, hitting his head and then slipping into a coma. After reviewing with the doctors and finding out their son has no head trauma, the two parents have absolutely no idea what has happened to their son. After horrible, indecipherable events start to take place, the two take the help of Elise Rainer (Shaye), a paranormal investigator. She brings the family sinister and horrifying news. It is about their boy, and it makes the coma the least of their worries.
