In the movie Last Tango in Paris, Jeanne (Schneider) is a beautiful young Parisienne. Whilst looking for an apartment she encounters Paul (Brando). He is a mysterious American expatriate mourning his wife’s recent suicide. They are instantly drawn to each other. They then begin a stormy, passionate affair. During this time they do not reveal their names to each other. Their relationship deeply affects their lives. Paul struggles with his wife’s death and Jeanne prepares to marry her fiance film director. He is making a cinema verite documentary about her.
