In the movie, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, a gynecologist kills himself after being accused of sexually molesting several of his patients. He leaves behind an expectant wife, who then miscarries and loses her child. She blames the victim, Claire Bartel (Sciorra), who had initiated the criminal proceedings against her husband. She then decides to avenge his death. For this purpose she gives herself the name, Peyton Flanders (De Mornay) and gets herself hired as a nanny for Claire’s two children. Peyton manages to gain the trust of Claire, and her husband, Michael (McCoy) She then sets about her gruesome task.
