Description

The Notebook begins in a nursing home where Duke (Garner) reads to an older woman whose memory is slipping from her. He reads the story of two lovers who meet in the south at a carnival. Allie (McAdams) was seventeen and a city girl from money, and Noah (Gosling) was a country boy. The two spend the whole summer together until Allie is forced to move to go to college, although she is willing to give it up for Noah. Noah writes Allie 365 letters and she never gets them. So he then restores the house which they went to one night out of a ‘labour of love’. Seven years pass and Allie meets and falls in love with wealthy soldier, Lon (Marsden). Allie then sees Noah’s picture in the paper and she is drawn back to him. She has to choose between her fiancé and Noah.
