In a cyberpunk vision of the future, man has developed the technology to create replicants. These are human clones used to serve in the colonies outside Earth and have fixed lifespans. It is 2019 Los Angeles and Rick Deckard (Ford) is a Blade Runner. A cop who specialises in terminating replicants. Deckard is in retirement but he is forced to re-enter the force when six replicants escape from an offworld colony and have reached Earth.
